History of Gems

From the earliest times in the human history, we have been fascinated with the beauty and allure of crystals and gems. Gemstones have been held in great esteem and used as objects of adornment, and as symbols of wealth and power. There is also widespread belief that gemstones possess magical and medicinal virtues. Gemstones have also been used for mystic, magic, physical therapies in the belief that they have natural powers. Although it is very difficult to prove or disprove that gemstones have mystical or healing properties, certainly many people do believe that they do possess power and help in the healing and mystical therapies.

In the East - such as India, China and in the Middle-East - some of the Stones found in the graves have been dated back to 7000 B.C. All across the world in ancient civilizations and cultures, gemstones were used in monuments to their Rulers and Gods.

Apart from these mystical powers, gemstones certainly do have beauty and glamour enhancement powers. In this modern world gemstones are polished, engraved, shaped and faceted to enhance their beauty to glamorize the wearer’s beauty.
